About This Item

Đừng giữ tôi.  Tôi cần đi đến một geocache khác!  giúp tôi đi du lịch ở châu Á và chụp ảnh đồ ăn với tôi.

Choppie is a TB we took with us for our second adventure in SE Asia, this time we travelled through Vietnam during summer 2022. We used chopsticks to eat a lot of tasty Vietnamese food and would like this TB to accompany other geocachers to try and eat more Asian food around Asia.

It's a bummer there's so little caches in beautiful Vietnam for me to accurately track and record the path of this TB. Yesterday, we were in the beautiful and majestic Mekong Delta, where we did some caching, and today we had another of our driving days; we started on scooter, then minibus, bus, minibus, private car. That's just half of the trip, and that's where I snapped a photo of this TB. We made it to Cambodia! But while in Cambodia, we unfortunately didn't visit any cache which I could add x00's of kilometers to this bugs journey, neither can I add another cou try to its visited list. We came to the boarder just to get out and back into Vietnam because of our visa.

But, again, at leastj can add an image and a note to the journey. After crossing the boarder back into 🇻🇳 and a hilarious no -bribing hour at the boarder, we drove back to Ho Chi Minh City for the last time, and got on aong sleeper bus trip to co tongue our journey north. Another minibus, a sleeper bus overnight, followed by the last minibus of the day took us to Đà Lạt for tomorrow's adventure (to follow). Quite a unique day we spent with this bug!!

After a pretty long trip on the sleeping bus to Cần Thơ, Laura and took a day off our three day adventire there to sleep im Ben Tre for a night. The drive was quite long but great, and a lot lighter with one backpack in Cần Thơ and the second one in HCMC. After waking up in our little finny hotel room, we decided that after checking out, we would go on an hour long drive to come and visit this earthcache. Yesterday, we went on a five hour long boat ride along the delta, visiting the floating market and spending a lot of unforgettable time in the small channels and little streams criss-crossing the area. Because we read the listing before our boat trip, we had the questions for the tasks in mind as we floated around, and were already looking for signs of erosion on our five hour solo cruise. I think because of that, we really got an incredible glimpse of all that's going on in the area, both in terms of the uniqueness of the delta, and so many ways of erosion prevention. It was an amazing cruise, we had an incredible time and saw another sight which will make a lifetime memory.

Today, although Laura wasn't really up to it since we were somewhat able to answer the EC questions thanks to the cruise, I persuaded her to go for the hour-extra long scooter ride to this stash. Since we came from the south, we started by going to the second waypoint. We looked around, snapped a pic, and got back on our scooter to make it across the high bridge. We were stunned by the amount of palm trees around, all around. After crossing the busy, windy, and slightly drizzling bridge, we made it onto the island and to the complete edge of it. But I'll cut to the chase. We visited all the waypoints, gathered the answers we needed, and logged a find with the CO approving and praising our answers. But, more importantly for you; we had an amazing boat cruise together, and while you were on the boat with us, I snapped some nice photos here; including one of you on this boat!! We had a great cruise on the Mekong together!

After a pretty long trip on the sleeping but to Cần Thơ, Laura and I walked around the city after which we decided to go on a gruesome and pretty long trip. We headed in this direction on our scooter to spend a night in this town. The drive was quite long but great, and a lot lighter with one backpack in Cần Thơ and the second one in HCMC. After checking into our hotel, I opened up the GC map, and this simple offset cache was only a fourteen minute walk from our hotel, so we decided to leave our scooter and get some steps in. After a quick walk through some absolutely adorable side roads, we bought something yummy to munch on and soon arrived at the posted coords, where we managed to figure out what we needed and quickly got to the stash. There, we were real happy to not only quickly find the cache, but also that we were the first ones since 2019 to visit! I'm really happy this TB got to come with us on such an adventure!

It's impressive that a cache can be never found; something that just doesn't happen in our home country. After Laura and I took the sleeper bus from Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh to Cần Thơ, we got right to our hotel and unpacked. We came here for two (plus one plus one) nights to visit southern/southwestern Vietnam and to see the Mekong Delta, and specifically to visit the floating market and the two caches west of HCMC.

Today was quite an exhausting day, so after getting to our hotel and walking around the area just a bit, it was time to sleep. BUT, not before walking to this big and empty square. We took this TB and packed it in our backpack, and headed for a walk around the area.

A cache never found was more of an interesting site to visit to see how much the place has changed during such a time. But, we were happy to at least document the area and visit the spot!

Today Laura and I had big plans to move to another part of the country, and after making travel arrangements for the early morning for a five hour long bus ride to the east of HCMC, we decided we'd leverage off the early wake up time (and the early opening time) of this museum, and we'd both learn a little more about the painful past of the war-Era Vietnam.

We walked past this museum yesterday and I felt pulled by the raw presentation of a different view of the war, one of oppression and oberpowement. We woke up early and walked for about half an hour to the museum, being some of the early visitors just as the museum was opening up. We spent nearly three hours here, it was intense, educational, and very interesting. After our tour of the three floors was over, we spend another half hour outside; Laura resting on a bench while I walked around the war machines, thinking of how much my dad would have lover to see these. It was a pretty I tense visit; both psychologically and physically. But before we left, I did look around the bottom side of the tank, knowing this stash probably wasn't here. I didn't find it. But I wasn't too upset by that; the visit to the museum was anough of a reward. And this TB came with us!

Another day in warm and humid Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh, we walked around the city today and while visiting the sights, we visited just this one multicache. It's quite the slow down from our usual pace of about 150-300 caches while at home, but while Vietnam has beautiful places to offer, it's got very few caches for us to find. Glad we could visit this place together with this TB!

On today's nice evening walk, Laura and I came to this park and before dinner, visited the two stashes here, next returning to this one. After we found/replaced it, we went to the nearby dock to enjoy a nice view and dinner, all while in the company of this TB!

In this park, we had a bit more hope of finding two archived caches, since they were found posthumously. Nonetheless, we weren't so luck here. It was a nice park to visit nonetheless...!
