Almost a cemetery for only 3 families. Most of the graves are occupied by people from the Pilant, Black or Vaughn families. Must have been locals for a long time.

Waaayyy off the beaten path. Some of the oldest gravestones we’ve read. Example: Born 1835, Died 1885. Located .6 miles into the woods and the local VFW lodge (Veterans of Foreign War) still cares for it.

Nice out-of-the-way cemetery that had a few fine examples of Woodmen of the World tree headstones. From the late 1800s to early 1900s, the WOTW life insurance company offered their customers a headstone upon their death that looked like a tree. We are able to find a lot of them in this area. They are all a little different and stand at least 6’ tall.

Unbelievable! Housing developments now surround this old cemetery on all 4 sides! Fortunately, it’s still here because it houses some early 1800 gravesites.

Visit to the Pratt Cemetery located adjacent to Pea Ridge Military Battlefield which was the scene for Union versus Confederate skirmishes during the United States Civil War in the 1860’s. There are a substantial number of grave markers that simply read “Unknown” because there were so many casualties and no time to properly identify the bodies. Peaceful resting place 🙏🙏
