This is definitely not a fun part of geocaching but as an owner, unfortunately it's part of the responsibility. My geocache named Madman Muntz GCXAXN located near the Sarasota/Bradenton airport in Florida, has been a safe, secure and popular spot for around three years. It was hidden near the Sarasota Classic Car Museum www.sarasotacarmuseum.org a really cool spot to visit. A few weeks ago I had some DNF's logged and when I checked on it and could not locate the ammo can even though the hiding spot did not appear disturbed.
I checked with management and they had not heard of any of their ground's crew or anyone having stumbled across it. They were going to check with some other workers to see if anyone moved it but as I recently found out no one had. They did tell me that they have had problems with some homeless people "residing" on their grounds lately who they have had to call the police to move them along. I appears that someone had made off with the container and all it's contents. Unfortunately this trackable item was listed in the inventory.
Hopefully a novice geocacher removed it and hadn't logged the move yet and it will show up, but I just wanted to let you know that it appears that it, along with a half dozen other items, is no longer part of the geocaching community. I will mark this item as missing as soon as I log this note, and hopefully it shows back up sometime.
My apologies for your loss.
Sincerely,
Scott
