Out vacationing with my family in the Ozarks, I found this TB. It was pretty cool getting this TB since my dad, who has diabetes, was out geocaching with us. When he was in his late 30's, early 40's...I'm not sure of his age when it happened...he went into the hospital to get his appendix removed. The doctors asked him, "Now, how long have you had diabetes?" My dad responded and told him that he did not have diabetes...and the doctor said that he did. That is how he found out he had Type 1 diabetes. They thought his pancreas might have been affected by the appendicitis, and that is how he got diabetes. No one really knows how it occured but his pancreas stopped producing enough stuff for his body and now he relies on a pump for his insulin. It means a lot to me to have found this TB! :)
