A long time ago (more than seven years!) – when there were much less geocachers in the world – Speerpunt sent a TB on its journey. Its task was to find another geocacher, but his name was known only to the TB called Mr. Excuses and those cachers who found it, read in its logbook, and looked up where Captain Cook was to be found.
In 2006 I was asked by Sussex Leprechauns if I were the cacher Mr. Excuses was searching for. Up to this moment I did not know anything about it. Since this time I was watching the TB and its odyssey.
In the meantime I met Speerpunt twice during events – but Mr. Excuses was still on its mission.
After having spent some time in Spain, in the UK and in France, where a cacher mixed up Aix-les-Bains and Aix-la-Chapelle, Mr. Excuses yesterday arrived at the Belgian/German border, where I was glad to find him and to invite him to stay some times with me before he goes on to search for the next cacher.
If Mr. Excuses had taken the shortest track to me by car, he would have done it in less than two hours and about 150 km - but he did it in more than seven years and 7933 km.
