About This Item

AMTG Statue Of Liberty 2006 GC 1

Mid size coin with little heft (the one that is mine to keep, I do not have the movable one). Unusual shape. The coin "set" came with two coins....one to keep and one to release in the wild.  I only got one when I traded for it in 2010 and it appears that the one that Horsegeeks released into the wild went missing in 2009 :(.  The front of this coin has very nice 3-D work and brushed background metal texture. The rim is edged. The medallion says "Liberty Enlightening the World, October 28, 1886-120 years-October 28, 2006- N40 41.36 W074 02.68". The work on the statue is very well executed. The torch extends beyond the star shape of the coin. The reverse show the SOL plaque in the medallion says "Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame, with comparing limbs astride from land to land. Have at our sea washed sunset gates shall stand A mighty woman with a torch who's flame is the imprisoned lightning and her name, Mother of Exiles. From her beacon -hand glows world wide welcome. Her mild eyes command the air bridged harbor that win cities frame. ""Keep, ancient lands, your storied prom!" "cries she with silent lips" "Give me you tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free. The wretched refuse of your teaming shore, send these, the homeless, tempest tossed to me. I left my lamp beside the golden door!". Emma Lazarus. 2006. Very thin and light weight coin but very touching and nice 3-D work. ------------------ Info on the coin.  There are two of each.  One to realease and one to keep.  Both have the same tracking number.  I have never seen one in the wild so I assume that they are all MIA and/or there were only a few made. ---- very nice coin.  ---------------------------So many of my trackables have been muggled that I only release GCs as virtuals. If you do not approve of this, please leave it in the cache for a cacher who understands. Thanks.  KR

Thanks to the 2023 Christmas Day blizzard my daughter, JMVonFange, was delayed in heading home so we spent the bonus time together comparing our caching statistics including trackables discovered and looking through our geocaching pictures. JM has discovered significantly more trackables that I have mainly because while we were staying home during the pandemic she spent time online and spotted numerous TBs that were being shared virtually on various social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, etc. Thankfully, she still had a few notes that helped guide my search for the same trackables that she had already discovered. After looking at the TB page for each of the TBs that she had discovered, I found that a large number all belonged to several individuals and sent a message to them individually inquiring about permission to log their trackables. This travel bug was on the list that you shared with me.
