This coin wants to get to Council Bluffs, Iowa, where the westward rail line to link the coasts begain. Once it gets there, it then wants to travel west to the Road To The Rusty Spike cache (GCQ3WZ), which is the closest traditional cache to the location of the Golden Spike. If it fulfills that mission, the coin would then like to travel the eastern and midwest sections of the US. It would especially like to visit railroad-themed locations.
This is one of a matched set of two geocoins that commemorate the linking of the US East Coast and West Coast by rail. The other coin is the West Coast Golden Spike Geocoin. Two rail lines were begun at the same time - one from Council Bluffs, Iowa heading west and one from Sacramento, California heading east. The two lines met at Promontory Point, Utah, where a golden spike was driven to connect the two lines.
