De Achterhoek (Nedersaksisch: Achterhook) is een streek in de provincie Gelderland die ook wel De Graafschap wordt genoemd, naar het oude graafschap Zutphen dat in de ruimste zin een gebied beslaat met als grens: de Overijsselse streken Salland en Twente in het noorden, de Duitse grens in het oosten en zuidoosten, de Oude IJssel in het zuidwesten en de IJssel in het westen. Over de precieze grens lopen de meningen uiteen omdat er geen duidelijke historische grens is geweest.

Mensen in de Achterhoek zijn trots op hun tradities en sinds kort hebben zij een eigen vlag.
