THIS TB WANTS TO TRAVEL TO THE RED SEA. HE WOULD LIKE TO STAY CLOSE TO THE OCEANS BECAUSE THAT IS WHERE HE LIVES AND HE MAY DIE IF HE IS AWAY FROM WATER FOR TOO LONG.HE DOESN'T CARE HOW HE GETS THERE JUST AS LONG AS YOU TAKE LOTS OF PICS ALONG THE WAY.
THIS TRAVEL BUG BELONGS TO A MARINE BIOLOGY CLASS IN DAPHNE, ALABAMA. WE ARE TRACKING IT AND WOULD LIKE AS MANY PICS AS POSSIBLE POSTED. THIS TRAVEL BUG IS A GULPER EEL WHICH LIVES AT DEPTHS OF 4,000 TO 6,000 FEET AND CAN REACH UP TO 24" LONG. HE IS A DISTANT RELATIVE TO THE RIVER EEL.THE UMBRELLA MOUTHED GULPER HAS TINY EYES AND TEETH, BUT A MOUTH THAT CAN MAKE UP 25% OF ITS TOTAL LENGTH. IT HAS A FLEXIBLE STOMACH THAT EXPANDS FOR ANY LARGE PREY THIS SLOW MOVING EEL MIGHT CATCH. THE GULPER EEL AND ITS CLOSE COUSIN, THE DEEP-SEA SWALLOWER, HAVE A LUMINOUS TIP AT THE END OF THEIR LONG BODIES THAT MIGHT BE USED TO ATTRACT OTHER FISH. PLEASE TAKE CARE OF HIM AND REMEMBER LOTS OF PICTURES TO SHARE WITH OUR CLASS. THANKS!!!

Found Adolf in Amsterdam and I will take him to the south or south-east. A little closer to his goal. Big Cities like Amsterdam are not a good place for fish...

Thought I might help this guy along with a quick hop across the "pond". He's near water with so many canals in the city, and he's right near the north sea....should be alright until the next person finds him. I think you have a great chance of making it to the Red Sea! I'll upload a picture or two when I get back to the USA for Thanksgiving dinner! Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Was on vacation on Anna Maria visiting my mom, and introduced her to geocaching. Stopped by and grabbed Adolf for a little adventure. If you're patient enough (soon after Thanksgiving) I'll have an exciting update. Sorry for the semi-long wait, but it'll be worth it.

Sorry it took so long to get pictures up. Hurricane Ivan set us all back quite a bit--and its been very busy since then. Here are some pictures of Adolf in Pensacola before Ivan, and one of him in Bradenton, FL at the DeSoto National Monument. We evacuated to Bradenton for nearly two weeks while Ivan ripped through the Gulf Coast.

Picked up Adolf while dropping some TB's off at the hotel. I'll give him a bump east to Pensacola where he can continue toward the east coast and eventually on toward the Red Sea.
