Iris

Please can you help me to get back to England, Great Britain???

So this will be the 2nd goal for me to fulfill. If anybody happens to find me I would be most greatful if you could help me find my way back home to Nottinghamshire, England. I would be over the moon if I could do a bit of sightseeing along the way and would like to spend a bit of time travelling around Australia first before I head home!

My first adventure was quite an ambitious one but thanks to some very kind Geocachers I have now achieved my first goal of reaching Sydney, Australia 

With lots of help from my new found Geocaching friends (and alot of luck too!) I was able to take flight from England to reach the homeland of my owners family who live in Sydney, NSW, Australia.

I started off my journey on the Isle of Wight, England, travelled all around the south east of England, went to Iceland, Gibralta, Isle of Man, Jersey & Guernsey, Greece, Brussels and finally I'm now in Australia. I can't wait to see where my little wings will take me next! it's been such an adventure for me so far, I can't wait to continue on my travels!

I'm really looking forward to being reunited with my owners, I think they're secretly missing me a little bit, I haven't seen them since September 2021 and think they'd like to see some photos of me! If you do find me please feel free to take some Pic's and post them with your logs.

I can't wait to meet more fellow Geocachers, make more new friends and see lots more beautiful sights!

Hi everyone, 

This travelbug has been named "Iris" in memory of our Mum! 

Our mum enjoyed travelling, mainly in England, Scotland and Wales but also to some European countries in her younger years! 

When our mum got a bit older and stopped going on holidays she decided to find a new interest, she bought herself a little computer and learned to access the internet. In no time at all she had joined the ranks of the "Silver Surfers Brigade" our Mum soon realised that she now had the whole world at her finger tips (quite literally!) She was now able to travel the world from the comfort of her own armchair!

Our Mum has one Sister who lives in Sydney, Australia along with her extended family, our mum never got the chance to go over to Sydney to see them all but myself and my partner did make that journey in her honour a few years ago! 

We took a knitted doll with us which I asked mum to make for us, a tiny replica of herself (well kind of, with a bit of artistic license and alot of imagination) We named the knitted doll "Mini Mum" stuffed her safely in our rucksack and off we went to OZ with her! 

After that first journey "Mini Mum" has gone everywhere with us, she has her own little passport and has since been to over 25 different countries / across 4 continents! 

Before going on our travels we would print off an itinerary for our mum to follow, we'd post regular emails / messages and photos and she'd follow our travels from the comfort of her armchair. She'd look up all the places we'd be going to and she'd watch "You Tube" videos for a virtual reality experience, she'd often end up finding places we hadn't even seen or heard of and would advise us on great places to explore! 

We all had such great fun for many years and have some wonderful memories! Sadly our mum passed away a few years ago but "Mini Mum" still travels with us wherever we go! 

My younger sister has enjoyed Geocaching for several years and introduced us to the hobby, my partner and myself were instantly hooked and have enjoyed venturing out to all kinds of places we never knew existed! 

Thinking about the way we took "Mini Mum" around with us, my sister thought it would be nice if she could find something similar for us to follow as a Travelbug. After a search on the internet she soon discovered the perfect Trackable, a little Angel wearing a green jumper with a Ladybird embroidered on it, absolutely perfect! It reminds us of mum so much, she loved the colour green and after she passed away we'd oddly started noticing Ladybirds everywhere we went? often in some very unusual and unexpected places, we'd joke that it was mum watching over us! 

Whilst camping on the "Isle of Wight" in 2021 we released "Iris" at the museum near the "Needles"  on the west end of the island. We hope "Iris" gets to go on many adventures and makes lots of new friends, we can't wait to follow her on her travels!
