Current Goal

KNOTTY II is a travel bug dog tag and not a regular Cache item. She does have a destination. Her aim is to get to Cochrane, Alberta to visit with family. I cannot visit this year so KNOTTY II has offered to try and make it out for me. So the Calgary region, Cochrane, Kananaskis, would be wonderful and Mr. Canoehead and his Paddles can pick her up. Thanks for logging your find and moving her along. Sept 27th 2004: KNOTTY II has reached her destination and visited with family and would now like to take off anywhere in the world to visit castles, cathedrals and any other grandiose structures.   • Is this a Castle? This is as close as Calgary can get to having a castle
  • Is this a cathedral? Calgary can not really claim to either castles or cathedrals, so this will have to do. This is just before naughty too, I mean KNOTTY 2 was dropped near the airport to await a flight out to see a real castle or cathedral soon...I hope.

We took Knotty II to visit the St Francis Retreat in Cochrane. The orginal landowner wanted to build his wife a castle and if you look closely you can see the turrets on the left side of the photo. I'm not sure how or when the Franciscans came to own the property, but they hold retreats there year round. So, not quite a castle and definitely not a cathedral but certainly an interesting building.
