Collect empirical evidence on which direction the drains flush.
One of the many unresolved mysteries of (my) life is which direction the little maelstrom rotates that is created when you flush the toilet or pull the plug in the sink. Now there has already been a lot of research on this topic, suggesting that the coriolis force might force the direction to be clockwise on the southern and anticlockwise on the northern hemisphere. Others claim that this is complete rubbish. This TB is my small contribution to the debate. Please conduct the experiment carefully and post the results on this page with your log.

the water flows down pipes in an anti-clockwise direction. Brand new sink used for the experiment within 1 mile of cache!
Dropped off in a watery place to hopefully inspire some more experiments.
Hertfordshire - 3 x anticlockwise Sutherland - 2 x anticlockwise 1 x confused by kids!

Will now do some experiments in a couple of different counties and then drop it off on our holiday in about a week's time. Cunning Planners
Logging this as retrieved from Wiltshire - although that was clearly done by someone else over a month ago. We will log it into the cache in which we found it so that it gets something like the correct mileage. Cunning Planners
hi Roolku! i did think that water went one way up here and the other down there but have now totally changed my mind! i found that it goes both ways here (in Edinburgh) and you can even change the direction by swirling it with your hand! so there you go! i reckoned d.t.d. should head south now so we dropped it off near stonehenge!
