Collect empirical evidence on which direction the drains flush.
One of the many unresolved mysteries of (my) life is which direction the little maelstrom rotates that is created when you flush the toilet or pull the plug in the sink. Now there has already been a lot of research on this topic, suggesting that the coriolis force might force the direction to be clockwise on the southern and anticlockwise on the northern hemisphere. Others claim that this is complete rubbish.
