Crawford Traveler

This travel bug is in honor of my deceased father. Its mission is to retrace the steps of his life.

As a young airman from Oklahoma his first assignment was to RAF Manston in Southeastern England. It was in Deal, Kent, England where he met my mother and they were married in 1953. As a young married English girl my mom's dream was to visit America. Her wish came true in 1960 when pop got stationed in Springfield, Massachusetts. After my sister, my older brother and then myself were born we moved to Rancho Cordova, California in Northern California. We lived on Mather A.F.B until dad got shipped to Vietnam. Pop did 3 tours of duty in Vietnam from 1966-1972. We met up with pop after his 2nd tour in Taiwan and live there and Okinawa, Japan until 1972. In 1972 we moved back to Northern California and landed at McClellan, A.F.B in Sacramento, California. Pop finally retired from the Air Force in 1974. He didn't stay put long before he was working for the Department of Defense. During this tour he was lucky enough to be able to go back to Southeastern England. He worked near Cirencester, England at R.A.F Kimble. My mother was so happy to be back in England and visiting family once again. In 1987 he retired for good and bought a motorhome and mom and pop traveled the US and Canada. My mom passed away in 1997 and since then pop has traveled back and forth living in Sacramento, California for 6 months and 6 months in Deal, Kent, England. My pop passed away a few days after I placed this cache in Deal, Oct.26th 2007. He loved England!
