About This Item

Ready to Travel

Following my tradition, began in 2002, I'm releasing Travel Bugs near the site of the annual meeting of the Entomological Society of America, hoping they can travel to the next place the buggy people will be assembling, while seeing a lot of caches and meeting a lot of cachers along the way. EntSoc Bug Twelve is a real insect, a Cicada. He joins my other surviving EntSoc Bugs, all journeying toward Indianapolis, for the next ESA meeting Please take care of him and log him properly. And do post photos of his adventures. Good luck little Bug. I hope I see you in Indiana or California or Nevada

This 'little guy' wants to meet up with his owner in San Diego by Dec. '10 or Reno '11 for the Entomological Society of America convention. Please help him ge there. Today we discovered beautiful Lake View Cemetery and all its wonderful sites, including the Garfield Memorial. We placed the TB in one of 20 caches we found today, geocaching this afternoon on my birthday. In honor of my birthday and because this cache celebrated the 1000th find of the owner, we felt it was a fitting send off.

This was in a cache that was our 100th find. We got the GPS on Father's Day of this year (6/20/10) and have been on a roll ever since. We came across this really cool travel bug. I must say it is very impressive! It has quite an impressive trip so far. My daughter is 4 1/2 y.o., just like the elementary school in NC that tagged it to help teach geography, we hope to teach our daughter about geography as well. Happy Travels!

Found this travel bug on our way to Myrtle Beach. I was excited to pick this guy up since he wants to travel to places where buggy people meet. Mid-April, my class is going to "A Bug's World" at the OARDC in Wooster, Ohio. I plan on taking him there to get a couple pics for you and then send him on his way!

  • Cicada with a Hissing Cockroach! Every year the Ohio Agricultural Research Development Center (OARDC) has a program called "A Bug's World" in April for school age children. This is a pic from this year's event at their Bug Zoo.
