We picked up this fighting fish so that he won't linger and perish in a cache that's seldom visited. A character of this type can perish of simple ennui if not allowed to get out occasionally.
According to a local fishermen with whom we are acquainted, the river along which this cache is located contains 41 species of fish, including trout, salmon and walleye, so ToyTruck chose well when he placed Moby here.
As we were walking back to our car, we followed the course of the river for a mile or so. This tricky little scamp managed to get out of his bag and lie in wait along the shore in a couple locations. We photographed him in situ before recapturing him and returning him to his baggy again.
When we got home, Moby escaped one more time and took on our big orange tiger cat. Neither one seemed willing to fight to the death, so it ended in a draw. Fortunately for Moby, the cat had already been fed today or the result could have been a tragic ending to Moby's days as a TB.
It might be a few days before we can get him into another cache, if it gets to be too long, we'll try to hand him off to another local cacher to get more activity. Either way, it will probably be more activity than he would normally get sitting in the final stage of a multi-stage cache. We'll post a couple of photos to provide visual confirmation of the stories above. 🙂
