Mission Complete!!!

This travel bug will begin the first leg of its trip tomorrow, June 29, 2008 when we board our flight in San Antonio to set out on our vacation in Scotland. As the name and mission imply, we would like to see "Scotland to the Alamo" make it from Scotland back to the Alamo, but there is more... As Texas historians well know, there were several Scots at the Alamo who fought bravely, as Scots do, during the battle for Texas' independence. Finally, "Scotland to the Alamo" is also the name of a really cool pipe tune that was written in the 1980's when one of the Scottish Regiments came to San Antonio to perform. Margie & I both play the bagpipes. We are not taking our pipes on vacation due to possible customs complications, but we are hoping to find a set or two while we are there. If we do, you can bet we will play "Scotland to the Alamo" at least once while we are there... Hope you enjoy the bug, the hunt and the short Texas history lesson! Margie & E. W. AKA HarleyPiper

Well, Scotland to the Alamo finally made it back to San Antonio, Texas! The entire journey took 6 years and 14 days, with stops in the following countries:

Belgium
Chile
England
Finland
Germany
Norway
Scotland
Spain
United States (AZ, CA & TX)

I expected it to be in much worse shape after that much time and that many miles, but it was in remarkably good shape! Thanks to everyone for taking such good care of it.

It has been taken out of circulation since it is back home, but I will definitely do the same thing the next time we go out of the country on vacation!

Sorry for holding on to this one so long. We had really hoped to make a trip all the way to San Antonio, but it keeps not working out. We found this nice roomy cache along the way, and hopefully it will be picked up by someone headed further east. Good luck!

Just wanted to let you know that this bug is still with us, traveling around Houston. We have plans to head towards San Antonio and bring this with us, but if the owner wants us to just drop it off anywhere suitable (as we've been holding onto it for while now!) just let us know!
