Booze Traveler

Please keep Booze Traveler moving because he is not a collectible. He wants to travel and see the rest of the world. Feel free to add to the key ring. I have placed a skeleton key with Booze Traveler because every time I find a Geocaching I leave a key. Hopefully,  you can leave him with a parting gift as well.

What are trackables?

Trackables are physical game pieces that move from geocache to geocache. Types of trackables include: geocoins, tags, t-shirts, and more!

Can I keep them?

In most cases, trackables want to travel. Use the tracking code on the trackable to look up its goal. Log trackables in order to move them along.

How do I log a trackable?

Trackables can be found in geocaches, your inventory, or through the trackable code search.

Use the tracking code to access the trackable details page and then choose the appropriate log type.

How do I start my own?

You can get trackables on our website. Give your trackable a goal and drop it in a geocache to send it on its way. You will be notified every time a geocacher logs it.

Trackable tips:

• Try to move trackables within two weeks of taking them.
• If a trackable isn't listed in a geocache, wait 24 hours or contact the last geocacher who logged the trackable.
• If you think a trackable is missing from a geocache, contact the trackable owner or write a note on the trackable details page.

Have you ever wondered where the word booze came from?

The origin of the word “booze” is often mistakenly credited to E. C. Booz, who was a distiller in the United States in the 19th century. But the first references to the word “booze,” meaning “alcoholic drink,” appear in the English language around the 14th century as “bouse.” The spelling we use today didn’t appear until the 17th century.

The word “booze” itself appears to have Germanic origins, though which specific word it came from is still a little bit of a mystery. The three main words often cited are more or less cousins of each other, and are very similar in meaning and spelling. One of the words came from the Old High German “bausen,” which meant “bulge or billow.” This, in turn, was a cousin of the Dutch word “búsen,” which meant “to drink excessively” or “to get drunk.” The Old Dutch language also has a similar word, “buise,” which translates to “drinking vessel.” It is thought that the English word “bouse,” which later became “booze,” has its origins in one or more of those three words, with most scholars leaning towards it coming from the Dutch word “búsen.”
