Current Goal

Thunder Pipes is my Harley substitute. I so enjoyed MY years of motorcycling that I wanted to relive some of the pleasures thereof. Please help Thunder Pipes to ride all over the United States of America. (It's fine if he roams a bit in Canada, too. It is a lovely, friendly country!)

PLEASE don't let him run out of gas and/or stop before his journey is over. Allow him to roam, freely, from cache to cache, state to state, and from one adventure to the next. It would be WONDERFUL if you would take pictures of his adventures so that I can continue to ride (vicariously) through him!

Because of the beauty of this great country, I spent quite a bit of time giving thanks to God for His gifts as I rode. Before you drop him into his next cache adventure, please consider taking a moment to do the same. Thanks!

About This Item

Thunder Pipes is ready to roll!

This is my owner's first TB — and she is really REVED UP about it! She put over 50,000 on her Goldwing several years ago (touring the US and Canada) but had a hidden desire to own a....Harley! She loved her first bike (a little cruiser that she had before the Wing) and, at 60, she still finds herself craving a cruiser to ride again. So, she bought ME!

It grieves me to report that poor little Thunder Pipes was in a cache that has been muggled. I'll not mark him missing YET so that, IF you've found him...you can give him new life. Someone...PLEASE HELP HIM!

Thunder was with us on this very special day so we wanted to share the story of the adventure with any who cared to read.

On this day we placed a cache to honor the memories we share with a very dear friend.

Please feel invited to read the story on the cache page GC17RJY.

Proof that some places are not meant to be a motorcycle route, but we still had a wonderful time playing in the flooded wash and making yet another successful CITO go without a hitch.

Unless you take into account the fact it was freezing and we are wet. 🙂

 • Sitting with the sign. :)
 • Little helpers are a big help
 • Working down the wash
 • "I lost a shoe"
 • Work is down, now we get to play
 • Southern Arizona sunset (in the storm season)

Thunder was getting a bit warm in the Arizona weather this week, so we made a few phone calls to the local weather service managers and asked for a cooling trend!

Yep they came through with flying colors. While it was in the high of 80's last week, it dropped to highs in the 60's now. (yeah yeah I know.. AZ has it sooo rough) 🙂

We decided to take a journey even further South East into the historic town of Bisbee Arizona and of course we had to bring Thunder along to show his mom that he is still having fun!

On the way we let him visit with some folks that would make mom proud. Then we played in the snow for awhile and Thunders poor little tailpipes got all frosty.

What does one do when they get cold and wet in Arizona? You go hide underground! Yeppers, Thunder rolled on up to the depot and jumped the nearest train into the Copper Queen Mine. Of course you have to imagine how cute this little fellowed looked riding down 1,500 feet into the earth to learn about what it was like to live and work in Bisbee back in the early 1900's.

A full day of fun and excitement was had by all and little Thunder slept with the children on the long drive home.

 • Honda Riders are great people also!
 • Chillin in Bisbee
 • A whee bit of history for ya
 • Thunder overlooking Bisbee
 • The Inn :-)
 • Heading for the mineshafts
 • First we have to warm up the tailpipes
 • Appears we all shop at the same store
 • Wifey shows off Thunder at 1,500 feet down
 • Our friend Teddy63 is not sure what to think :)

The day after Thanksgiving and it is time to search for the next adventure for the family and our mascot Thunder Pipes!!

We have opted to take the drive up into the Catalina Mountains again but this time we will bring along our friend Teddy63. Teddy63 is visiting from Germany and we always try hard to find things to do and places to go that he will enjoy and be able to share when he returns home.

So...

A nice little hike (4.5 miles round trip with an average grade of 13%) today was in order as the kids need to work off that turkey dinner from yesterday 🙂

Anyways.. Some lovely views were seen but as we were hiking the temps started to drop very quickly so we headed off the mountain and over to Famous Sam's for some much needed refueling.

See you on the next trip Thunder.
Here come the pictures of the mountain, the historic WWII prison camp and refueling. 🙂

 • Thunder kicking back and enjoying the view
 • Yeah.. We are parked out there somewhere :)
 • Thunder learning some history
 • Learn it .. Or relive it..
 • Another monument
 • Profile of Thunder's route today
 • Thunder gets a needed refueling.
