To visit William Davenport's grave in Australia and return to visit his brother Ira's grave again and then be placed in a nearby cache if possible.
In 1855, Ira and William Davenport debuted as psychic's in Buffalo, NY and became the most famous psychic's and magicians of the 1800's. Their routines came to include escapes as they became famous world wide. Their career ended on July 1,1877 when William died in Sydney, Australia. Hiis stone had ropes, chains and the brother's Spirit Cabinet engraved on it according to some sources but this does not show on the pyramid shaped stone now there. Ira retired to Mayville, NY where Harry Houdini visited him in 1910 to learn secrets of some Davenport escape tricks. Ira died on July 8, 1911. Houdini wrote about the visit in his 1924 book, A MAGICIAN AMONG THE SPIRITS, The Davenports were also documented by Thomas Low Nichols in, A BIOGRAPHY OF THE BROTHERS DAVENPORT. Ira's scrap book is in the library at the nearby Spiritualist Community of Lilly Dale, NY. Ira is buried in Mayville, NY Cemetery in the big circle. N 42 Deg. 15.722, W 79 Deg. 29.766. The ultimate goal of this TB is to visit Williams grave in Australia and return to Mayville, Chautauqua County, NY to visit Ira's grave and then retire. It is most important for this TB to travel but it would like to visit the graves of magicians, spiritualist centers, magic shops and anything theme related along the way. The ceramic rabbit which accompanies this TB as a symbol of magicians, among other things, should be safe to take to Australia where they have had real rabbit problems in the past. Williams grave is located in the Sydney, Australia Rookwood Cemetery near the Lidcombe Railway station. Church of England Necropolis, Section E, Grave number 848. Coordinates are: 33' 51.986S 151" 03.148E
