About This Item

Laverne & Paul Pinn

Laverne LaPinne-Pinn (bowling pin) Travel Bug

The continuing tragic and tumultuous tale of Buck D. Ball, Lavonne LaPinne, Laverne LaPinne-Pinn and Paul A. Pinn.

The story of Buck, Lavonne, Laverne and Paul began in a bowling alley in a small Pacific Northwest town. Buck D. Ball was the strong silent type and Laverne LaPinne was young and impressionable. Laverne fell in love with Buck the moment she saw him. Roaring down the alley at her at full speed only to swerve at the last moment brushing her gently. That first touch rocked her world and spun her around. She was smitten. Head over heels in love.

Buck flirted with Laverne. Filled her with hope but never pressed their relationship beyond a good natured nudge. Laverne was confident that one day he would declare his love for her. It was only a matter of time. She was certain that those gentle brushes and near misses would blossom into a love affair that is only written about in romance novels.

All the while Laverne lusted after Buck, right beside her, stood Paul A. Pinn. Paul felt the same gush of love for Laverne that she felt for Buck. And just like Laverne it was an unrequited love. A love that he hoped would bloom. Day after day they worked in the alley. Paul looking lovingly at Laverne. Laverne looking lovingly at Buck.

One day, in the middle of her shift at the Hi Joy Bowl, Laverne noticed a familiar face. Could it be? What were the odds? Standing just behind her was Lavonne, Laverne’s sister! The reunion was joyous…until Lavonne set her sights on Buck.

Buck’s eyes met Lavonne’s from the end of the alley. He spun madly towards her and, hitting Laverne so hard that she bashed into the wall behind her, and threw himself at Lavonne. They were never far apart from that day. Buck never even acknowledged Laverne’s existence after that. One day Buck and Lavonne disappeared from the Hi Joy without a word.

Laverne was devastated. Her own sister and the only man she had ever loved…gone. Paul consoled Laverne as best he could. Professing his undying and true love for her. Given time and persistence he convinced Laverne to marry him. He was as happy as any bowling pin could be. He had won the woman he loved. Laverne pretended to be the happiest bride in the world but deep down inside..she longed for Buck.

Not long after Buck and Lavonne disappeared Laverne heard that Lavonne was heading towards The International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame in St. Louis, Missouri and that Buck was hot on her heels. Well, at least she knew where they were going and it gave her some measure of satisfaction to know that they were not together. Serves her right, she thought.

While still basking in knowing that Buck and Lavonne were not together her world came crashing in again. News arrived that Lavonne was missing! She was last seen in a cache in Kitsap County but it would appear that she had been kidnapped! OH NO! Laverne was beside herself. The sister she had wished was dead just might be! She told Paul that night that she was going to go to St. Louis and hunt for Lavonne herself. She had to. She just HAD to!

If you can help Laverne along the way she would certainly appreciate it. She’s a perfect guest at any geocache event. She doesn’t mind being hidden beside a cache since most caches aren’t big enough to hold her. Please help. If it wouldn’t be too much trouble…a photo or two along the way would help those that know and love her.

The International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame is located at 111 Stadium Plaza in St. Louis, Missouri.
