Rachel is named after a small town in the middle of nowhere. In the middle of the Nevada desert, in fact. It's the nearest town to a top secret US military base at Groom Lake, commonly known as Area 51.
The owner of Rachel (the bug) has the crazy idea of one day heading to Las Vegas from the green hills of the UK, with the intention of travelling on to Rachel and beyond...
This bugs mission is to reach a very specific location. It is headed for the cache known as 'Groom Lake Road/Area 51' (GCF5CB), kindly created by Bug Zapper, Paulie, and Aunt Lynn at N 37° 21.021 W 115° 37.195.
If Rachel (the bug) ever reaches her destination, then the idea is that I will then re-unite with her at that location :)
Rachel is my first travel bug. I think I've set her a very optimistic mission, but I know that if there's any group of people who can help her on her way, it's the wonderful geocaching community.

I've been wanting to make the trip to Area 51 for years. I've already managed to convince my wife to come with me, so I'm half way there already! If we could re-unite with Rachel when we get there, it would be the coolest thing.
