Pouring rain but when I noticed the name of this hide i knew I had to hunt it. It's June. Father's Day is coming up in 3 days.
Like the CO i too lost my father in 2007. And like the CO i too learned how to fish from my Dad.
June is always a tough month for me because it is also the month of my father's birthday. I like to do things the entire month that remind me of my Dad. This cache seemed like a perfect way to remember him.
I had some concerns because of previous logs. This cache hasn't been found much and last log was 6 months ago but CO just confirming it is here.
I can tell you this one is well worth the hunt!
I parked right next to the dock and took the obvious trail into the trees.. though it looks very think and hard to maneuver it was quite easy even in the rain. Gps got sketchy as I approached ground zero. I put my phone away and inspected all the obvious beacons. So many of them. I took it phone out to look again but it was raining so hard it was hard to use. I didn't want to abandon my mission so I reached out to CO asking for a hint. Then I put my phone away and didn't look at it again. In circles I walked at GZ rechecking everything. I am convinced it's here and with Dad in my mind and my heart i was determined to keep trying. So many fallen trees and branches. So many nooks and crannies. And then I noticed something that seemed staged. Sure enough it was a cache protected from the elements.
I grabbed the nice sized container and opened it to discover a trove of swag items. Grabbed myself a dinosaur to add to my collection. Thanks to whomever left it.
I left some swag to honor my Daddy. A rock, a puzzle piece, an Arby's coupon. Oh the stories I could tell regarding those items.
I love you and miss you Dad very much every day. As I write this a young girl and a man walk to the dock in the rain carrying fishing poles.
I left this fantastic TB in hopes to get more traffic to this cache during Father's Day weekend and beyond. TFTC
