OH! I noticed that this has not been to San Francisco, where there is a mint. I will do my best to get it headed in that direction.

Thought I'd rescue these coins on this nifty belt buckle before someone decided to try and spend them at the nearby casino. Next stop will be to share will the FROGS in California.

  • Visiting the Carson Mint Neat history here... mint was built at the peak of the silver boom to facilitate the minting of coins from silver in the Comstock Lode. It operated from 1870 until 1893 and had 50 issues of silver coins, and 57 of gold ones. During the lifetime of the mint over $49 million dollars in coinage was produced. WOW! The buckle sure was a hit with folks, especially how fortuitous it was that I happened to be heading to CC just weeks after finding it on a farm in Pasco. TFT fun mission!
  • PirateNBooty at the Carson City Mint Touring around the mint. Unfortunately for us, it was too late and the building was all "buckled up" so we couldn't go inside... but it was still a great visit!
  • Crazy Camera! Our camera was doing some very strange things that night!! Didn't know for sure if it was the display or the images themselves until we got home...

It looks like the buckle is melting but I assure you it's doing just fine :)

Saw this very nice buckle on a belt/belly at the Richland 100 years Coin Challenge. Very nice TB.
