About This Item

On 3rd of May 2000, Dave Ulmer hid the very first geocache, near Portland, Oregon in the US.  Just 9 days later, Peter McKellar hid the very first geocache outside of the US, near Rotorua in New Zealand.

And we've been crazy about geocaching ever since!!!

In 2020, geocoins.nz installed a memorial plaque near the original site of GC45, the first cache hidden outside the US, to commemorate its significance in the history of geocaching.
