Badgers are very tough critters. They're rather rare but are the state animal for Wisconsin. They are the mascot of the University of Wisconson-Madison sports teams.
I lived on a dairy farm in Wisconsin when I was a kid and saw a badger up close and personal. They have sharp teeth and long claws. Never, ever stick your hand in a badger den!!!
