About This Item

The phrase "Be there with bells on" means to arrive safely. The holiday song that has lyrics that say "Bells on Bob tail ring, making seasons bright" means that the sled and it's passengers arrive safely. If a sled got into trouble they would often hold the bells and send the animals ahead, to alert the party of a problem, then sit and ring the bells to be found in the storm.
