Current Goal

This coin would like to visit Native American/First Nation sites throughout the U.S. and Canada.

About This Item

The human history of the Americas did not begin in 1492. Several millennium before Columbus, or even Leif Erickson, stumbled into these lands by mistake, mankind had lived here. Empires had come and gone and great cities had been founded. Wars had been fought, and peace had been enjoyed. Vast trade networks spread from coast to coast and international treaties were negotiated. Our history is as deep in time as that of any land.

The people that made that history were often ignored and more often seen as 'in the way' as Europeans explored, and then settled and conquered the Americas. The story of those first peoples is often still ignored.

I want this coin to visit the places where that history is seen and told. I want it to travel to historical sites where the stories of the Native Peoples occurred. Also I would like it visit museums and heritage centers where their stories are told anew. As well, if it could be at any gatherings where the culture and life style is still passed from generation to generation and shared with others.

Please take pictures of its journeys so that others can enjoy them as well.

Another locale important to the Metis community in Manitoba. One of the oldest churches and cemeteries in the city of Winnipeg. Many early settlers are buried here.
