On August 1st, 2003, using a squirrel trap baited with tuna, I successfully trapped the beast that had haunted my garage. It was a wild, filthy, crusty, bony, starving, three-month-old kitten, with a squint in her eye and a kink in her tail, surely no more than an inch away from meeting her maker. A year later, she's a fat, sleek, happy, sweet-tempered, affectionate boss of the household and terror of the neighborhood, the
Empress of the Sofa
In gratitude, we jointly release this bug. She would like to visit animals, especially cats, pets that were once strays and animals that have had lucky breaks or near misses. Photos or stories would be delightful.
It's strangely heavy, isn't it? I think it's solid bronze.
Bast was the daughter of Ra in the Egyptian pantheon, a sun goddess, later a moon goddess. Goddess of housecats, women and secrets. Her cult was large and powerful. She was a wild goddess, who gave great blessings to her followers, but was legendary in her wrath. Sometimes considered one of Ra's avenging deities, whose job it was to punish the sinful.
What she does to weasels who desecrate her statues is anybody's guess. It probably involves an eternity of dry catfood, drinking from the toilet and nobody cleaning my litterbox. Ever.

There... Much better!
We have two cats that were strays/homeless. Our oldest is a girl named Jaguar- She is black and very loveable!! Our youngest and second wayward kitty is named Spooky- My husband found him wandering next to a very busy road. Spooky is black and got his name due to being found on Friday, October 13th!! Both of our kitties were underweight when we found them and now are nice and healthy. We are SO GLAD they are a part of our family!!

The Empress has travelled clear across the country from me, but I'd like to post a few momentoes of her visit with me. She met all my kitties, and watched Sunny, my Collie pup, grow up. She was here when Squeaker, my 19 yr old kitty passed away peacefully at home this past December. Many pictures were taken. I'm hapopy to have known her, and wish her well on her journeys.

Brought this kitty home on the plane with me from the SCM2 event. The airport security had to check my carry-on bag because it showed up suspicious. Made it home with me OK and will move the Empress on soon.
