To assist other disaster victims around the world and help light the way for them after they weather major storms.
“Lee Emerge-and-See” Travel Bug is starting its travels from Cape Coral, Florida where its owners brought it to a Breakfast Gathering of SW Florida Geo-Cachers on October 9th, 2004 following a record hurricane season in Florida with four land-falling major hurricanes ….Charley, Frances, Ivan, and Jeanne.
After surviving encounters with three of the hurricanes that impacted SW Florida, thanks to disaster preparation guides and this handy-dandy, little keychain flashlight provided by Lee County Emergency Management, we thought that our flashlight, (which we named “Lee Emerge-And-See”), might help find other disaster victims and light up their day.
“Lee Emerge-and-See” TB is NOT A LUCKY CHARM (obviously, since we were hit by three out of the four major hurricanes)….so please DO NOT KEEP IT when you find it. Take it to a geocache closer to another disaster prone area so that future victims can find it and use it to light up a windowless, interior room of their home where they will be cuddled up until the storm blows over. As the travel bug’s name implies…this flashlight is to be used after a storm to “emerge” from the shelter and “see” what has just occurred (especially if the storm happens during the night).
If it is not too much trouble, try to get it back to SW Florida in time for next year’s hurricane season (with fresh batteries of course!)…WE MIGHT NEED IT AGAIN !!

Too bad this didn't make it back to SW Florida in time for Hurricane Wilma's arrival...our power was just restored today. Luckily, we sustained very little damage this time...a lot less than when Hurricane Charley hit us a year ago.
