Please help our travel bug to get to Rome!
Pottacus was a Roman potter who made fancy pots in Gaul (modern-day France). This type of pottery, known as Samian ware, was traded across the Roman Empire and one made by Pottacus ended up at a site in the middle of England, near the town of Evesham. How do we know? The pot has a stamp on it with the maker’s name! It was found during a community excavation in 2022, just before the site was planted with lots of trees and made into a nature reserve. (If you’re interested to know more, take a look at the Roots in Time project page.)
The local youth centre, Ourside, helped to excavated the site, share this amazing history with visitors and set up a geocache series. Now they’ve sent Pottacus (aka gold Lego minifigure) on a mission to reach Rome! Can you help us?!
