Now Jacob the owl wants to travel around the world.

This owl is the leader of the animal wood. His name is Jacob. In the past there was a dutch tv programme for small children (like I was). Every day we watched this animal stories which were lasting 5 minutes. Then it was time to go to sleep.

Jacob de Uil is een van de weinige personages in het dierenbos die niet bij naam worden genoemd. Hij moet de oude wijze uil voorstellen, maar weet vaak niet wat hij met bepaalde situaties aan moet. Zijn zinnen onderbreekt hij voortdurend met ‘eh’ en raakt ook dikwijls de draad kwijt van zijn betoog.
De Fabeltjeskrant wordt door hem voorgelezen, op een wat ouderwetse en afstandelijke manier. Ondanks zijn hoge positie in het Grote Dierenbos is hij niet de leider. Wel staat hij boven alle partijen.
