About This Item

This TB was picked up on a visit to Thundering Waters, aka Niagara Falls. The goal of this TB is to travel from cache to cache and, if possible, have pictures taken near waterfalls. This is NOT a personal trade item - please do not keep it, but pass it on as intended. Thank you.

Well, Stone mountain Gang, you did move Thundering Waters around a bit - well done. We picked up the TB today and are travelling to Lake Annecy in a couple of weeks and hope to find a suitable place for it there.

Couldn't make it to any more waterfalls on this trip, alas, so here it is for the next person. Photos uploaded for 1) The falls at the Dyfi Furnace at Machynlleth -- a lovely little waterfall next to an old water-wheel-driven iron-smelting furnace from 1755; 2) Horseshoe Falls, a man-made falls at Llangollen that diverts water for the Shropshire Union Canal and thus the Pontycysyllte aquaduct,, over which we were able to travel by narrowboat; 3) the whitewater along the Dee in downtown Llangollen. The Thundering Waters Bug also visited caches at either end of this aquaduct ("LCT:045" and "Coin Exchange") which though not a waterfall, is certainly a marvel of water movement, so I have included a photo with the log. Bon voyage, Little Bug!

    • Waterfall at the Dify Furnace at Machynlleth Members of the Stone Mountain Gang visited this lovely waterfall on Monday, 22 July 2013.
    • Horseshoe Falls near Llangollen Members of the Stone Mountain Gang visited this fascinating, man-made weir on Wednesday, 24 July 2013.
    • Approach to the Pontycysyllte aquaduct Thundering Waters visited both ends of this aquaduct on 24 July 2013.
    • Whitewater running through Llangollen Not exactly a waterfall, this whitewater runs through the center of Llangollen. Not sure why boy #2 is scowling here, not that much of a cause is required.

We're going to a waterfall next week, so we'll take it along! We can then send it back to the States or leave it to continue it's UK travels; since it originated back in the U.S., perhaps we should leave it here across the pond...
