Amanda is a young Panda Bear. She'd like to travel the world & hopefully even go to China.
The Panda Bear is a probably the most famous Endangered Animal with only 700-1000 surviving in the wild. Today Pandas only exists in six small areas of river valleys & lower mountain slopes of inland China.
Pandas eat over 15 different kinds of Bamboo. Having inefficient intestinal systems, they must feed 12-16 hours a day consuming 22-40 pounds of bamboo daily. Due to encroachment of humans on their habitat, their extinction is probably likely.
Pandas are majestic creatures, generally 5-6 feet tall & may weigh in at 250-300. They have massive heads, heavy bodies, short tails, rounded ears & plantigrade feet (meaning that both heel & toe make contact with the ground when walking in a manner similar to humans). Their short claws make climbing trees very easy. Their lifespan in the wild is 25 years or more.
The Chinese believe they have magical powers. They call the Panda "Xiongmao", which means Giant Cat Bear. Writings about the Pandas can be traced back 3,000 years.
It would certainly be sad to loose them one day.
