Discovered It 1/25/2011 ZROZRO7 discovered it   Visit Log

I don't know about lost investments, but I found a lost geocoin, I think, since it hasn't been logged at all for several years, since 2006.
But I am not sure I have the right coin, since no one logged it into the cache and there is no picture or description for it.

I will discover it for now, hoping someone will log it in to this cache.

I picked it up at the 'Sand Spring Valley T.B. INN', GC1N0P9, cache in Lincoln County, NV, along the ET Hiway.

Speaking of lost investments....I almost lost the final euro in the travel bug.

Well, all's well with the euro now. It is sunning itself in South Florida!

Let us forget AOL, VRGE, CyberCash, PharmaPrint and all the rest of the lead weights that helped me roll into the 2000s with lighter pockets!

What a release! Be free black ink!

    Thank goodness!

An honest waiter at the restaurant SilverMarc and I ate at finally brought the Euro Coin back to us.

I will be making my note on this one soon and dropping it into a Miami-based cache.

Geohalf knows me very well, and so many times in the past when he promised some shareware app or said he'd do something for me, he had to put up with my annoying "reminders" and "can you do such and such later today" etc.

My persistence wasn't only directed toward him... Today when I -again- checked at the restaurant (they already knew what I was asking about from previous visits), the evening man said, "Oh yeah, the box with the Euro! I took it home."

He said he'd try to remember to bring it in tomorrow. It's still in its box and with the geocoin as well.

I have some sad news to report.

SilverMarc and I are old friends. When I came to NYC for a visit, he gave me this TB and I left it at a restaurant.

We are hopeful that it will turn up soon, but if not, I will work with the owner to either replace it or do whatever I can to make things right.

Meanwhile, I can add AOL, PharmaSys, Virage and iXL to the list of stock turds I held too long.

Retrieve It from a Cache 6/27/2006 SilverMarc retrieved it from Who are you guys? NYC GC meetup... New York   Visit Log

Do any of these jog one's memory...

Agere Systems, Avaya, Avid, AtHome, Celera, Imation, Iomega, Media 100, Virage...

Once in awhile I made some good investments too, but that's a story for another TB!

Will move this one along, unless it crashes!

It didn't start as an investment, but turned out to be a tny one indeed. I was taking a group to a conference in Indiana and put a $200 deposit down on a Greyhound Charter bus. Between the time that we placed the deposit and the time we left, Greyhound went bankrupt. We became a creditor as we were owed the $200. They paid pennies on the dollar and about a year later we received a single share of Greyhound valued at about $2. Since we had almost 400 members in our organization, we considered cutting the share up in as many pieces as a souvenier. We later decided that a $2 stock certificate was a better conversation piece than 400 tiny ones.

TB was picked up by Silver Marc--a coin collector from NYC who just returned from Europe.

I have it safely in my possession and once the cache site is approved, I will officially record it and move it on.
