I happened upon this little guy and he was just begging to be picked up to go for a ride in a real Jeep Wrangler. So I decided to take him along. As we rode, we got to talking about life, and it seems this bug was having a crisis of individual identity. He told me that some Geodork made the decision that all Jeep travel bugs should be yellow. What made him most upset was that he wasn't consulted about his destined color. I asked him what color he liked, and he looked at my Jeep and determined that he was a RED Jeep trapped in a yellow Jeep's body. I told him I could remedy that. He is now one of a kind, the first red jeep traveler!

Well, Slade gave me a call. His going on about what a great time he was having in his new jeep and how he wanted the three of us (Slade, Turtle Boy, and me - Father Dirk) to go out cachin' together in Jeep 4X4's. That sounded good to me, so I left St. Mary's and headed out - more or less reverently. It didn't take long for me to find a beautiful yellow Jeep that was all but begging me to take it for a ride. I don't know if I was right to do it, but I did sign for it so it's not like I broke any commandments.

Slade was right. By the way, what kind of parent would name their kid Slade. Poor guy.

As I was saying, Slade was right. It's not that I feel guilty about enjoying myself so much, but I really DID enjoy myself - tooling around in the Jeep. I called Slade and told him we needed to get together. He suggested that we have a Jeep Jamboree. Scout's honor! (ok, not really - and no, I'm not a scout). Two fun loving guys out cachin' in their 4X4's is fun, but it's not a jamboree. We needed Turtle Boy. So I called him. He said that he had already talked to Slade and was up for it, he just didn't have a Jeep.

I pray that he can join us.

I think this jeep is going to motor to a jamboree.
