About This Item

1

Mid size coin with heft.  1.5 inches 2.5 mm thick silver. 150 Coins minted. Available in other metal colors. Unusual shape in that there is a pass through in the center of the coin.  The front of the coin has a medallion with a background of blue glitter. There are three satalites and two frogs done in matte green enamel.  The rim is wide and has recessed text that reads"Team Laubfrosch AACHEN".  The reverse is done in silver and has the alphabet decoding lined up.  These are done in squares with red and grey enamel with the letters in the metal silver of the coin.  The bottom 1/4 of the coin has the geocaching symbol and the rim is done in red enamel with what appears to be "gua patet orbis" (the world is open).  A personal coin.  Cute coin.

Info on the coin means Laubfroesche "tree frogs".

Team Laubfrosch from Aachen started geocaching in May 2005 and remained true to this hobby for 5 years. Just one year later, the team decided to create their own coin, which appeared in October 2006 in three different metal variants: Black Nickel, Shiny Gold and Silver.

The front shows two tree frogs in front of a blue starry sky and three satellites. The circumferential ring bears the team name and the place of residence.
The back shows the ROT13 encryption, the Groundspeak logo, the placeholder for the tracking number and the Latin saying: "qua patet orbis", which means "As far as the earth reaches". Incidentally, this motto is also used by the Dutch "Corps Mariniers", a special unit of the navy, as its motto.

So many of my trackables have been muggled that I only release new ones as virtuals.  If you do not approve, please leave it in the cache for a cacher who understands.  Thanks.  ML

Thanks to the 2023 Christmas Day blizzard my daughter, JMVonFange, was delayed in heading home so we spent the bonus time together comparing our caching statistics including trackables discovered and looking through our geocaching pictures. JM has discovered significantly more trackables that I have mainly because while we were staying home during the pandemic she spent time online and spotted numerous TBs that were being shared virtually. After looking at the TB page for each TB that she discovered that I didn't, I found that a number of TB Codes necessary to discover the trackable were included on the TB Page itself or intentionally or as a spoiler in the photo gallery. Sometimes there was an attempt to obsure or hide the TB Code that was not entirely successful making it fairly easy to determine the TB Code needed to discover the travel bug.
