About This Item

Norwegian Geocoin 2008 Copper RE 250

Teil der Coinsammlung der Kanustation Mirow / poseptun

Large coin with lots of heft.  1.75 inches 5 mm thick antique copper, 300 made.  Avaliable in other metal colors.  Excellent 3-D work. The front shows an older design of a viking sailing ship with a fish underneath. The rim has raised 3-D work. Reverse is a knotted mesh done in 3-D work. The rim has repeating script that says "Norweguan Geocoin 2008". No enamel needed. Very nice coin.

Info on the coin:  The Norwegian Geocoin for 2008 was selected by a vote on the Norwegian Geocaching Forum. The design of the Norwegian cacher fam.bergum won.

The geocoin was released in three editions: Antique Copper (RE300), Antique Bronze (LE150) and Sandblasted Gold (XLE100).

The surprisingly low icon ID results from a purchase together with the icon for the Norwegian Geocoin 2007 with the icon ID: 692.

Thanks to the 2023 Christmas Day blizzard my daughter, JMVonFange, was delayed in heading home so we spent the bonus time together comparing our caching statistics including trackables discovered and looking through our geocaching pictures. JM has discovered significantly more trackables that I have mainly because while we were staying home during the pandemic she spent time online and spotted numerous TBs that were being shared virtually. After looking at the TB page for each TB that she discovered that I didn't, I found that a number of TB Codes necessary to discover the trackable were included on the TB Page itself or intentionally or as a spoiler in the photo gallery. Sometimes there was an attempt to obsure or hide the TB Code that was not entirely successful making it fairly easy to determine the TB Code needed to discover the travel bug.
