About This Item

Large coin with lots of heft. 1.75 3.5 mm thick 43 grams gold.  100 coins minted.  Available in other metal colors.  Another great Chris Mackey design.  The front has beautiful translucent enamel over delicate metal work. The design shows a "T", "L" and a "4" done in metal work in the medallion.  The middle of the medllion has a a rose done in red enamel.  The background of the medallion is translucent forest green. There is unusual metal texture beneath the green enamel.  The rim is two step with the inner step using etched 3-D and red enamel.  The script says "Team Legend4" and "Roseville, MI".  The outer rim is translucent orange enamel that shows metal script beneath.  The script reads "Caching The Motor City Since July 2005" and N42 29.111 W082 56.69.  There are two small roses done in etched work on the rim.   The reverse continues the excellent enamel work and brings out more metal shine.  The medallion shows a GPS and energy line showing connection with a satalite.  The rim script, under orange translucent enamel that reads "Gone HI-tech". It shows a satellite sending info to a GPS held over a city skyline. 2006. Excellent personal coin.

Info on the coin:  With the nickname TeamLegend4, a cacher family from Warren, Michigan, has been looking for caches since July 2005 after reading an article in a local newspaper about geocaching.
While all 4 went on a cache tour at the beginning, the son soon developed new interests. Sadly, he passed away in 2014 at the age of 24,
but what they loved about geocaching was meeting new people, enjoying nature, and having fun social events. They also liked to collect and exchange geocoins and pathtags.
Since 2017, the team has been taking a break from geocaching.

Her personal geocoin was released on March 21, 2007 in an edition of 250 coins and was only available as part of a coin exchange.
It measures 44 x 3.5 mm with a hardenamel surface and was available in three editions: Glossy Gold LE100, Nickel LE100 and Glossy Copper LE50.
The very nice design shows the abbreviation and nickname of the team as well as Roseville, MI on one page against a translucent dark green background with consecutive binary numbers.
CACHING THE MOTOR CITY SINCE JULY 2005 is also written around the translucent orange, supplemented by the coordinates N 42° 29.111 W 082° 56.165, which probably refer to her home in the northern metropolitan area around Detroit.

So many of my GCs have been muggled that I only release new ones as virtuals. If you do not approve, please leave it in the cache for a cacher who understands. Thanks. GR

Thanks to the 2023 Christmas Day blizzard my daughter, JMVonFange, was delayed in heading home so we spent the bonus time together comparing our caching statistics including trackables discovered and looking through our geocaching pictures. JM has discovered significantly more trackables that I have mainly because while we were staying home during the pandemic she spent time online and spotted numerous TBs that were being shared virtually on various social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, etc. Thankfully, she still had a few notes that helped guide my search for the same trackables that she had already discovered. After looking at the TB page for each of the TBs that she had discovered, I found that a large number all belonged to several individuals and sent a message to them individually inquiring about permission to log their trackables. This travel bug was on the list that you shared with me.
