About This Item

Mid size coin with heft. 1.75 inches 3.5 mm thick 44 grams antique gold.  Another great Chris Mackey design.  The front has heavy clear enamel over excellent artwork. The medallion shows flight instrumentation done in grey, red, teal, brown and black enamel.  The black enamel rim has s cript that reads "Caching is all about your attitude Team A.C.E.". There are four small screw heads on it as well.  The reverse has excellent 3-D work.  The medallion shows a plane flying over and through clouds. The bottom of the medallion has a piolot's emblem that has script that reads "team A.C.E" withe the "ACE" done in red enamel.  The rim has script that reads "Track our flight Sparkeeeee & Bree". The 3-D work extends onto the rim with the plane's propeller and wing. Great  personal coin.

Info on this coin:  Team Ace stands for Aviation and Caching Enthusiasts.  In preparation for their 500th cache find, they had the idea of their own geocoin. They enlisted Chris Mackey for the design, and TheGeocoinStore took care of the production.
On September 13, 2007, Sparkeeeee presented their new geocoin in the geocaching forum.

The 44 x 4.5 mm antique gold coin was released in an edition of 500 pieces.
On the front is a very nice 3D representation of a Beech T36 Bonanza flying over and through clouds. The 3D work continues on the edge with the propeller and the wing of the aircraft.
Below the plane, the name "Team A.C.E." can be read in raised letters, filled with matt red enamel. The abbreviation stands for Aviation and Caching Enthusiasts.
The rim is raised and bears the inscriptions "Track our flight" in black and "Sparkeeeee & Bree" in matt red enamel.

The reverse shows a part from the instrument panel of their aircraft, the artificial horizon. The epoxy coating simulates the glass above the display. The headline "Caching is all about your... 'Attitude' Team A.C.E.". Caching is all about your... 'Attitude' Team A.C.E."

So many of my trackables have been muggled that I only release GCs as virtuals. If you do not approve of this practice, please leave it in the cache for a cacher who understands. Thanks. GR

Thanks to the 2023 Christmas Day blizzard my daughter, JMVonFange, was delayed in heading home so we spent the bonus time together comparing our caching statistics including trackables discovered and looking through our geocaching pictures. JM has discovered significantly more trackables that I have mainly because while we were staying home during the pandemic she spent time online and spotted numerous TBs that were being shared virtually. After looking at the TB page for each TB that she discovered that I didn't, I found that a number of TB Codes necessary to discover the trackable were included on the TB Page itself or intentionally or as a spoiler in the photo gallery. Sometimes there was an attempt to obsure or hide the TB Code that was not entirely successful making it fairly easy to determine the TB Code needed to discover the travel bug.
