About This Item

AMTG kd and prettierhalf 4000 GC 1

Mid size coin with heft. 1.6 inches 3 mm thick gold.  250 coins minted. The front has slight 3-D work and some enamel. It shows two Egyption cachers, done in black enamel, against a mountainous background. The background metal texture is brushed. Theew is a small medallion done in commercial colors and has "K, D, P, 1/2".  The rim has heavy black enamel and has script that reads "4000, thanks for your caches!". The reverse is all black enamel with raised metal script that reads "Special thanks to Sandbassking and Queen McTwin, 9Key, Thepadre, TeamOxfor, Dreamcacher V, Surrenderthebooty, Drives Tizom, Langly, Akulakat, Coachgregc and many more...". The rim script reads "You can't find them if noe one hides them" and  "Alaska - Cayman Islands - Hawaii - Germany". This is a very well done coin and send a very nice message about how important it is not just to find the cache but to HIDE them. We would not reach our find goals if someone does not put them out! Very nice coin.

Info on the coin:  kd&prettierhalf were a geocaching couple who geocached all over the world. This geocoin celebrates find number 4000. They had found 19,965 caches together and were days away from find number 20,000 in Egypt, when prettierhalf passed away on August 29, 2012. kd is now known as kd solo.

From kd solo: ** Biography **
For 20,000 caches we were known as "kd&prettierhalf". Prettierhalf was a nickname that kd had given to Wanda years ago. We were together for over 30 years. After the kids were grown, we discovered geocaching. We greatly enjoyed caching with each other and were together on 99% of our finds. However, after 19965 finds, while getting our shots to go to Egypt for our 20000th find, prettierhalf was diagnosed with Stage IV cancer and died a few days later. KD had to get to 20000 by himself (NOT in Egypt) in memory of the most beautiful woman he had ever known. Now all of these geocaching accomplishments seem meaningless.

So many of my GCs have been muggled that I only release new ones as virtuals. If you do not approve, please leave it in the cache for a cacher who understands. Thanks. IL

Thanks to the 2023 Christmas Day blizzard my daughter, JMVonFange, was delayed in heading home so we spent the bonus time together comparing our caching statistics including trackables discovered and looking through our geocaching pictures. JM has discovered significantly more trackables that I have mainly because while we were staying home during the pandemic she spent time online and spotted numerous TBs that were being shared virtually on various social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, etc. Thankfully, she still had a few notes that helped guide my search for the same trackables that she had already discovered. After looking at the TB page for each of the TBs that she had discovered, I found that a large number all belonged to several individuals and sent a message to them individually inquiring about permission to log their trackables. This travel bug was on the list that you shared with me.
