Macbeth could finally be getting his revenge on the trees of Birnam Wood that helped the English army defeat him, as conservationists have warned the last remaining tree from Shakespeare’s time is at risk of collapsing.
In 'the Scottish play', the trio of witches prophesise that Macbeth will "never vanquish'd be until Great Birnam Wood to high Dunsinane Hill shall come against him". That prediction later comes to pass as forces march on Dunsinane Castle shielded with branches from the wood.
Now the Birnam Oak, which aged at least 500-years-old is the only tree to survive from Shakespeare’s time, is in danger after being damaged by flooding when Storm Desmond hit last December.
Experts say the iconic tree, which attracts thousands of visitors each year, is at risk of splitting in two.
The core of the tree has rotted, but its heavy branches are continuing to grow, putting pressure on the weakened trunk.
Unless urgent action is taken, it is thought the legendary tree could be lost forever.

Diese wundervolle Coin durfte wir bei unserem "Coin-Aussteller-Nachbarn" in Mirow bewundern.
Gemeinsam mit Herrn Compubaer haben wir uns den Wind um die Nase wehen lassen und Interessierten unsere Coins gezeigt.
Diese Coin ist Teil einer beeindruckenden Sammlung mit vielen besonderen Schätzchen. Es war uns eine Ehre, darin stöbern zu dürfen.
Die Auflistung der Trackingnummern hat dankenswerter Weise Polyanthum übernommen, so konnten wir uns aufs Staunen konzentrieren!
