Bridal Ducky

Bridal Ducky is in a race!  This travel bug is participating in the Rubber Duck Dash Race 2012 - The Quack is Back!  (GC3N86T). Bridal Ducky, along with dozens of other rubber duckies, is trying to travel as far as possible, as fast as they can.  Along the way, the ducks hope to log the most caches (placed or visited) and miles in as many countries as possible ...  and lots of photos!!!

Bridal Ducky needs your help in this mission.  Please take her to as many caches as you can, and log each visit.  Please take pictures of Bridal Ducky and post them here on the travel bug's pages if you can.  Please let others in on the fun ... place Bridal Ducky in a Travel Bug hotel or some other suiteable high-traffic cache.

If you are interested in following the race, the results can be found at http://duckdashrace.com/

UPDATE:  Although the race winners were never offically awarded, and the race website has since shut down, Bridal Ducky was identified as having had the most photographs taken in the year-long race.  Thank you to all who helped by taking and uploading pictures of Bridal Ducky in the amazing, wonderful and funny places it visited.

Bridal Ducky is a small rubber duck wearing a bridal gown and veil, she is carrying a beautiful bouquet of red roses.

On January 12, 2012, DougyB travelled from the frozen wasteland known as "Canada" to visit the beautiful PKarin in Maryland, USA.  That evening, DougyB proposed to PKarin and she accepted!  The next day the happy couple went on a road trip from Maryland to Pennsylvania, stopping at a few Geocaches along the way.  Near Hancock, MD, they stopped and found I70 Truck Stop and TB Stop  (GC23K6F). Inside the cache they found "Bridal Ducky" (as they promptly named her) and thought "How appropriate!" to find this bridal rubber ducky the morning after getting engaged.

Bridal Ducky had some writing on the bottom: "Ducky Spike PA".  A little sleuthing determined that a cacher by the name of duckyspike had visited this cache about 5 months prior.  We assume that duckyspike dropped this beautiful rubber duck into the cache as a kind of "signature item."  The bride was not set up as a travel bug, but PKarin and DougyB decided to keep it and turn it into a TB at a later date.

The months rolled on, during which time PKarin moved to Canada and married DougyB.  The happy couple moved to Brampton, ON (not far from Toronto) and started to unpack and settle into their new home.  It was not long after getting married that they heard about Rubber Duck Dash Race 2012 - The Quack is Back!  (GC3N86T) and thought "We have the perfect duck for that!"

Thus, duckyspike's little rubber duck turned into the Bridal Ducky travel bug.

The creation of this travel bug was based on a happy string of events in the lives of my wife and I.  We hope that Bridal Ducky brings a little of the joy that we feel into the lives of the cachers that travel with it.
