The Earth Turtle 2012 is the fifth in a series designed by tsunrisebey (Stephanie Quinn), following the earlier editions from 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010. This version pays tribute to the original Earth Turtle from 2007, with a design that mirrors the earlier one but includes added details, such as a Yin/Yang symbol on the turtle's shell. What makes Tsunrisebey's Earth Turtles particularly unique is their intentional "imperfection." Each coin features small irregularities in its design, which contribute to its creative charm and beauty. Tsunrisebey’s philosophy is that nothing in nature is perfect, and these subtle imperfections give the Earth Turtle a special significance in her work.
On the back of the coin, "Mother Earth" is depicted, adorned with a beautiful gemstone on her forehead, further emphasizing the connection to nature and the earth's inherent beauty.
