To visit the Ernest Hemingway home at 907 Whitehead St. Old Key West, via waterways along the way!
This little fellow, Salmo Trutta (Brown Trout), was born in the Brodhead Watershed in the Pocono Mountains of Northeast PA. Although a nonnative species, the presence of Salmo and his cousin Salvelinus fontinalis (Brook Trout) is one indicator of good water quality. The Brodhead Watershed Association and it's volunteers work hard to protect Salmo's habitat. Salmo's been told that everything flows downstream. He began his life in the Paradise Creek, which flows into the Brodhead Creek, which discharges into the Delaware River, which leads to the Delaware Bay, which leads to the Atlantic Ocean. He'd love to see the Atlantic, especially Key West Florida (he's a big Hemingway fan). Help him get to Key West, and take his picture by bodies of water along the way (lake, stream, ocean, puddles, glass of water) or perhaps reading a Hemingway novel!
Salmo LOVES clean water almost as much as he loves Hemingway. Support and volunteer for your local conservation and watershed protection organizations.
