Current Goal

This trackable has the goal to circulate more than five years and to be moved by more than 25 cachers. That is a rate of five drops per year for five years, or a drop every 73 days.  As of 24-Mar-21 it had survived for 4.0 years and had been moved by 8 cachers, for an average release every 184 days.

No permission is needed to leave the U.S.  While in the U.S., please drop it in a Premium Member only OR a rural cache near a busy trail or road. Do not place it in an urban cache or abandon it at a caching event where there is no security.  Transport the bug in the original plastic bag for as long as the bag lasts; the bag keeps the trackable clean, protects the number and prevents tangling with other items.  Otherwise, take the trackable anywhere you wish.

About This Item

Hotel del Coronado (also known as The Del and Hotel Del) is a historic beachfront hotel in the city of Coronado, just across the San Diego Bay from San Diego, California. It is one of the few surviving examples of an American architectural genre: the wooden Victorian beach resort. It is the second largest wooden structure in the United States (after the Tillamook Air Museum in Tillamook, Oregon) and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1977 and a California Historical Landmark in 1970.

When it opened in 1888, it was the largest resort hotel in the world. It has hosted presidents, royalty, and celebrities through the years.[6] The hotel has been featured in numerous movies and books. The hotel received a Four Diamond rating from the American Automobile Association. We didn’t stay there on our 2016 visit to San Diego, but we did the tourist walk through.

This trackable took a long time to not go far due to COVID. The Bakerz family is very new to geocaching and we were excited to find a trackable for the first time. It travelled all over with us and landed back in a great spot.
