I am always watching for something to convert to a travel. I bought this item at a filling station in Pincher Creek, Alberta, the location of our B & B when we traveled around the region in 2015.
The town received its name in 1868 when a group of prospectors lost pincers in the small creek at this location. The pincers were of a type used for trimming the hooves of the horses. In 1874, the North-West Mounted Police came to southern Alberta. One of them discovered the rusting tools in the creek and Pincher Creek became the shorthand name for the region. In 1906, the community that grew around the RCMP post was officially incorporated as Pincher Creek. Many residents are descendants of the pioneer families who settled there over 100 years ago. The town now has a population of about 3,500.
