Teil der Coinsammlung der Kanustation Mirow / poseptun
The main geocoin of the Geocoinfest 2015: Omaha, NE - The Sky's The Limit! event in Omaha, Nebraska. The coin was designed by Chris Mackey.
The coin consists of a base with a magnetic airplane tag. Only the base is trackable with the code engraved on the edge.
The obverse of the base shows the event motto "The Sky's The Limit" and a hidden altimeter in the background. On the reverse of the base is a tribute to the amazing work of the Strategic Air & Space Museum.
Chris wrote:
"The SAC logo of an armored gauntlet seizing the power of the heavens is a bold image in itself. There wouldn't be any randomness in the selection of tributes on this side either.
The divisions of labor and ingenuity in the SAC are very specific. Their very motto would frame the highlighted craft within.
The flight vehicles on display would be picked to represent ingenuity in creative design, dog fighting combat, long range flight, support vehicles and space exploration.
Each of the vehicles portrayed is a prime example of ingenious men and women who thought way, WAY outside the box and their hard work changed history forever.
In retrospect, this side really could have been the front of the coin."
The B-17G Flying Fortress and the F-86H tags are included with every edition and the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird and the Whirlwind are restricted to the limited editions.
