About This Item

Microsoft flies me out to Seattle for an interview on Nov 10, 2016. I have 2 half-days of free time for sightseeing. The first attraction I can think about without looking at any travel website is: the Geocaching HQ. Reservation is made.

I landed at SEA on Nov 09, 2016 and picked up a rental car. The drive to Geocaching HQ was troublesome because my phone gave wrong directions several times, I sometimes cannot correctly understand the voice directions, and the humid weather in Seattle area causing foggy car windows. It took me more than an hour to reach Fremont. But eventually, I'm there!

I imagined the Geocaching HQ to be a big building that looks like a warehouse, but this is not the case. It's on the third floor of an office building, on top of a commercial gym. The "visitor center" is in the lobby. The cache container is the biggest I've ever seen; I'm pretty sure two human can fit into that container. It contains two logbooks: a regular logbook where I signed my ID, and a "photo logbook" where I can place a photostrip taken at the on-site photobooth. There are also five boxes of trackables to be moved; I sat down on the bench, and checked their missions via the free WiFi. Finally, I got to see TB27AH8, the trackable that visited the International Space Station, on display at Geocaching Museum.

This piece was awarded by the friendly lobby staff as a souvenir of my HQ visit.
