Mid to large size coin with heft. 1.5 inch 4 mm thick 21.9 grams antique bronze. 500 coins minted. The front of this coin is unusual in that it appears to be a standard reverse. It has nice background texture. The medallion has the "anthus logs" and metal script that reads "Anthus". There is a small enammeled commercial logo done in commercial colors. The rim is done in black enamel and has metal script that reads "conquering the world one cache at a time". The reverse Medallion has a cartoon dalmatian dog weaing fire fighting equipment. It appeasrs to be puttingout a fire in an ammo can. The background metal is brushed. The orange ename rim has script that reads "Firefighters" and "Hot Cache". Unusual coin.
Info on the coin: At the beginning of January 2006, the Anthus team surprised with information in the geocaching.com forum about a personal geocoin dedicated to firefighters worldwide. Since Mr. Anthus is a firefighter himself, the reverse of the coin shows a firefighter clearing a burning cache. It was informed that on January 27, 2006, the coin will be offered for presale on geocoinstore.com, which shows the personal "Anthus Geocaching Symbol" on the front and the address of the homepage and the motto "Conquer the world cache by cache!" in the surrounding ring.
The circulation was given as 500 coins, 400 of which were for sale. The remaining 100 were intended for exchange.
This is the original geocoin put out by Anthus, a geocaching family from Pennsylvannia. The Anthus team finally has their own personal geocoin! Since Mr. Anthus is a firefighter and many of our friends and family are firefighters, we decided to dedicate our first coin to firefighters worldwide. Mr. Anthus is a volunteer firefighter so we dedicated our very first coin to firefighters worldwide. To our knowledge, this is the only geocoin dedicated to firefighters. And, yes, we do own a Dalmatian dog.
This coin also displays the words "Hot Cache". The Anthus team is currently working on a corresponding cache hide to go along with this coin. The cache name will be "Hot Cache".
anthus is a geocaching family from pa. this was thier first geocoin design, and went on to design the decoders (v 1/ v1.5) and the first hinged coin, a laptop.
Produced by GeocoinStore/PersonalGeocoins.
So many of my trackables have been muggled that I only release new GCs as virtuals. If you do not approve, please leave it in the cache for a cacher who understands. Thanks. EL

Thanks to the 2023 Christmas Day blizzard my daughter, JMVonFange, was delayed in heading home so we spent the bonus time together comparing our caching statistics including trackables discovered and looking through our geocaching pictures. JM has discovered significantly more trackables that I have mainly because while we were staying home during the pandemic she spent time online and spotted numerous TBs that were being shared virtually on various social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, etc. Thankfully, she still had a few notes that helped guide my search for the same trackables that she had already discovered. After looking at the TB page for each of the TBs that she had discovered, I found that a large number all belonged to several individuals and sent a message to them individually inquiring about permission to log their trackables. This travel bug was on the list that you shared with me.
